WNC-Where our Hearts go Kitipun!
Kitipun is the sound our hearts make when we are in love, or excited, or overjoyed! This is a saying in Latinoamerica and made recently popular by the amazing Juan Luis Guerra who made an awesome song called Kitipun!
In 2020 amidst the chaos of Covid, my hubby and I decided to getaway to the mountains. Our initial plan was to head over to the Blue Ridge Mts in Georgia but I found us the MOST romantic little cabin in the woods in North Carolina. Which was perfect because we were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary! It was a short trip but one that we will remember forever. We loved it up there so much, that every year since, we’ve gone up to the West North Carolina Mountains.
In 2021, we really wanted to experience the Fall season up there so we booked the same cabin for a mid October trip. This time around we wanted to see more of the area so we ventured out.
Kitipun 💓💓💓
We hit the local waterfalls, stopped a the scenic lookouts and enjoyed the crisp cool air. It was a dream and Panda loved it too!
We stopped at this amazing store called Scaly Mountain Crafters along the way where we made friends with the owners Darren & Michelle (yes, he is also named Darren 😁). Michelle creates custom made pens made out of wood and they are phenomenal. She also teaches a class on Pen Turning. Darren and I fell in love with this store and all the goodies in it, but what we loved most is their mission. A portion of every purchase provides meals for the local community.
Needless to say, our Fall trip was amazing!
For this year’s trip (2022), we wanted to escape the Florida Summer heat so we booked a mini trip up to WNC. This trip changed everything for us because we realized that WNC wasn’t a place that we just wanted to visit every so often. We love up there too much to just be occasional visitors so we are thinking on buying some land and building a little vacation cottage!
We got in touch with a realtor and she had a few options for us to see. We couldn’t resist so we booked another trip at the end of Summer and this time, we invited my mom. I wanted to show her the place we fell in love with. The mountains, the valleys, the creeks and waterfalls, the winding roads, and the people!
She absolutely loved it up there (as I knew she would!) and she cannot wait for us to have our own little piece of paradise! We didn’t find anything on this last trip but we’re already planning a trip in December. Our realtor advised us that the best time to see the overall topography of the land is during the early winter months when the trees have shed their leaves. We are learning a lot about how the land lies up there and realizing that in order to know exactly how it would look, one must hike, climb, and walk the grounds. Is quite a change from how the land is here in flat Florida 🤣.
We look forward to finding our little piece of land God willing, and I look forward to keeping you posted!
